PSCA Members Receive National Recognition

Three former Pennsylvania School Counselors Association Counselors of the Year were recognized by the American School Counselors Association as semi-finalists in the 2014 School Counselor of the Year Program. Michelle Brand, 2011 PSCA Elementary School Counselor of the Year; Meg Rieley, 2011 PSCA Middle School Counselor of the Year; and Colleen Tortorella, 2012 PSCA High School Counselor of the Year. Michelle works at Pine Grove Elementary School, Pine Grove SD; Meg is at Mechanicsburg Middle School, Mechanicsburg SD and Colleen works at Gateway High School, Gateway SD in Monroeville. As semi-finalists, they were invited to the ASVA School Counselor of the Year Gala in Washington, DC and were given Recognition Certificates.

 

Dr. Jerry Trusty, counselor educator at Penn State University, has been recognized as Counselor Educator of the Year by the Pennsylvania School Counselors Association. The recognition is awarded to counselor educators who, among other things, demonstrate significant support of both the school counseling profession and the PSCA.
