  • Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP) - the U.S. (private sector) board that accredits career, geriatric, marriage & family, mental health/community, and school counseling programs, plus doctoral programs in professional counseling research/teaching/clinical supervision (a.k.a.   • LexisNexis (subscription required, but also accessible via CD-ROM at any law school library) - one of the legal profession's two major (private sector) on-line research databases, with some of its literature pertaining to mental health law
  • looksmart - a Web portal, similar to Yahoo!, that includes an article section (many of which are scholarly articles and mental health-related)
  • PsycINFO (subscription required, but also accessible via its PsycLIT CD-ROM counterpart at any psychology department library) - the mental health field's premier (private sector) on-line research database
  • PubMed - the U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services' on-line medical research database, including psychiatric research
  • SAMHDA - the U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services' on-line mental health research database
  • WebMD Medscape - a commercial Web site, intended primarily for laypersons but potentially useful to mental health professionals

  • ACA Foundation - the non-profit foundation of PCA parent association American Counseling Assoc. whose services include scholarship programs, development grants, legislative assistance, sponsorship of research projects, and more
  • ACA Insurance Trust - the malpractice insurance affiliate of PCA parent association American Counseling Assoc.; insures professional counselors practicing in a wide variety of settings, as well as graduate students of professional counseling for their internship placements
  • ADD Resources - a U.S. non-profit organization run mostly by adult volunteers with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD); dedicated to supporting, educating, and serving as a resource for people with ADHD
