Professional counselors, here's your chance to demonstrate your leadership skills while contributing directly to the profession!  The Pennsylvania Counseling Association announces the following positions as vacant for the 2004-05 year (which began July 1, 2004):

Elected Positions:

Appointed Positions:

1.  PCA Professional Development Committee regular (i.e., non-chair) position

standing committee; unpaid; will be responsible for overseeing and implementing the expansion of the PCA's continuing education provider system to include the PA state boards of Education and Psychology, and also the National Academy of Certified Family Therapists; required:  PCA membership in good standing; to apply, down-load and complete the PCA Nomination Form in the Nomination Guidelines section below; for more details or for any questions, contact committee chair Joan Kaylor, M.S.Ed., at ceu@pacounseling.org or at (412) 854-9120, X15

2.  regular (i.e., non-chair) positions for most other PCA committees

Nomination Guidelines

  • All nominations must be mailed or e-mailed as an attachment to the PCA Nominations & Elections Committee (c/o Slippery Rock Univ. of PA, Counseling Center, 008 Old Main, Slippery Rock, PA  16057  Attn:  Dr. Francene E. Haymon / nominate@pacounseling.org) using the PCA Nomination Form.
  • Please consult the PCA by-laws for descriptions of the duties of PCA officers; for committee chair and other positions, feel free to contact the current official, or if there is none, the PCA president.
  • Please note that the election/appointment process for PCA divisions, special interest groups, and regional chapters is handled separately by each of them; please contact them directly if interested in a position at that level.

Selection Process

  • The PCA Nominations & Elections Committee oversees the election/appointment process for the association and is comprised of an appointed chairperson and all PCA Executive Council members (i.e., the five PCA officers and PCA division, special interest group, and regional chapter representatives).
  • Upon receiving the nominations, the committee prepares a ballot consisting of at least two, but no more than three, candidates for each elective office.
  • Nominees for appointed offices (i.e., committee chairs and positions such as graduate student liáison) are presented to the PCA president for his/her attention; appointments for standing committee chairs must be confirmed by the PCA Executive Council, whereas special committee chairs do not.
  • Elected candidates are selected by confidential ballot mailed to and returned by PCA members.
  • Results of the election are given to the PCA Executive Council for certification at its next scheduled meeting, as well as published in the next issue of PCA, Inc.; winners of the election are notified via U.S. Mail immediately after certification by the council.
