March 15, 2010 - Two Health-Ed training have been posted on the Professional Development page.

March 9. 2010 - HB 1250 passed the House of Representatives today and has been referred to the Senate.  If you want to look at the bill that came out of the House, Google the PA House of Representatives, go to the main homepage and type in the bill number (HB 1250) in the top right corner search engine.  The printers number to look at is 3135. 

March 4, 2010 - The Call for Programs for the 42nd annual PCA Conference has been posted on the conference page.  The conference will be held October 15 - 17 at the Penn Stater Conference Center.

March 3, 2010 - For those of you who are interested....  Check out the Delaware Counseling Association conference on May 1, 2010 that is listed on the Professional Development page.

February 14, 2010 - PCA members who are not members of ACA can receive the same conference registration benefits as ACA members since Pennsylvania is hosting the ACA Conference in March in Pittsburgh.  To take advantage of this, PCA members need to contact Member Services at ACA since there is a special registration procedure.   The on-line registration for the ACA Conference will not work in this situation.

February 8, 2010 - The PCA Executive Council has entered into a service agreement with ACA resulting in some significant changes in our operations.  You will notice that the mailing address for PCA will be changed to an Alexandria post office box.  Calls to PCA will be answered at ACA headquarters and mailings of PCA materials will also be generated from ACA headquarters.  We are also in the process of developing a new website through this agreement.  The overall impact of this move will be for PCA to provide more consistent, quality services to its members.

February 8, 2010 - A tab has been created to announce the PCA sponsored and co-sponsored events at the ACA Conference and Exposition starting on March 19.  This list will be updated as events are announced.

January 28, 2010 - HB 1250 passed out of the House Professional Licensure Committee on to the floor of the House for 2 additional votes.

January 25, 2010 - Two items have been announced on the PAMCD page regarding events at the upcoming ACA Conference in Pittsburgh.  Please check them out and take advantage of these opportuities.

January 19, 2010 - HB 1250 comes up for a committee vote on January 27.  This bill changes our current licensure law (Chapter 49) from a "title" law to a "practice" law.    Please visit the Government Relations page for a link to HB 1250, list of House Professional Licensure Committee members, and sample messages.  It is critical that PCA members show their support for this piece of legislation.

October 12, 2009 - Efforts continue to move forward toward the passage of a practice act for professional counselors in Pennsylvania.

August 19, 2009 - Several trainings have been posted on the Professional Development page.  Why not check them out today?

August 12 - Learning Institutes have been listed on the conference page.  Since the ACA Conference will be in Pittsburgh in March, 2010, information on this conference will also be made available on the PCA conference page.

August 4 - The 2009 PCA Conference Registration form and the on-line registration access have been posted on the conference page.  We have increased the number of rooms we have reserved at the Penn Stater however, as of today, there were only about 30 rooms left in the block. 

April 19 - Information about the 2009 PCA Conference has been posted including the Call for Programs which are due by June 1, 2009.  This year we are pleased to have as our keynote speaker Dr. Samuel Gladding from Wake-Forrest University.  You will notice that new information has been posted regarding reservations at the Penn Stater.  Please keep in mind that we have run out of rooms for the last few years and some people have had to stay off-site.  Make your reservations early.

February 11 - Additional information regarding insurance (ACT 108) has been posted in the member's section

February 7, 2009 - Implementation procedures for Act 108 - 2008 can be found on the Member's page.  These are the procedures for LPCs to apply for insurance reimbursement through Highmark.

November 19, 2008 - There are current movements underway to reactivate the Philadelphia Area Chapter of PCA.  This falls on the heals of efforts to form a Central Pennsylvania Chapter and a Division for the Creative Therapists. If you have interest in becoming part of the task force to work on any of these efforts, please contact Dr. Paul West (pwest1604@comcast.net) and he will connect you to the individuals heading up the respective efforts.

August 13, 2008 - Access to the Job Target link can be found in the member's section.  Job Target provides PCA members the opportunity to a) review available counseling positions in Pennsylvania and surrounding areas, b) post resumes for prospective employers, and c) list counseling and counselor educator job openings.

August 13, 2008 - PCA testimony before 2 state committees is available in the member's section.

August 5, 2008 - Some updates to PCA legislative activities have been posted on the member's page.

February 13, 2008 - Recent action by the PCA Executive Council has provided the framework for PCA to begin an Employment Opportunities service to PCA members.  This service will be available for those seeking employment and those wishing to list counselor or counselor educator openings.  Watch the Member's Section for more information.

February 3, 2008 - The ACA Conference is scheduled to be held in Pittsburgh in 2010. We are looking for individuals interested in serving on a committee to host this event. If you are interested, please contact Joan Kaylor at joankaylor@hotmail.com.

May 30, 2007 - Changes to the Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting Statute have been included as an amendment to the LPC law.

November 8, 2006 - An updated version of the PCA Bylaws has been posted reflecting changes in Division structure.  Similar changes to Chapter and SIG structure are in the process of review.
